"February is the month to show some of Portugal’s Islamic heritage in Tlemcen. This initiative of the Portuguese Embassy in Algiers has the support of the Camões Institute and includes the presentation of the exhibition “Mértola, the last port in the Mediterranean”, at the "Capital of Islamic Culture."
Conferences are planned in Tlemcen and Algiers. It will be a unique opportunity to promote the work being done in Mértola. The above mentioned exhibition was unveiled to the public in February 2006, at the St. George’s Castle in Lisbon. The path followed by this exhibition ever since includes the Millennium-BCP Foundation, the Cascais Cultural Centre and the Islamic Festival of Mértola. Six years later this exhibition arrives at North Africa. "
